Personal statement
• I joined the Disability and Wellbeing Service at Strathclyde in September 2021.
• My role involves providing advice to individual staff members who may have a disability, a health condition or who may be neurodiverse, and to line managers and colleagues in HR and Occupational Health.
• I am also responsible for the Disabled and Neurodiverse Staff Network.
• I have over 30 years’ experience of working as a practitioner across the pan-disability sector in the Civil Service (DWP), the voluntary/third sector (for various disability charities), and in Higher Education (for several universities).
• Prior to joining Strathclyde, I worked in a variety of disability-related roles including Disability Employment Adviser, Student Disability Adviser, Access to Work/Workplace Needs Assessor, Work Experience Organiser, Volunteer Manager, and Project/Contract Manager.
• Outside of work, I was previously a director of the Spinal Injuries Scotland charity and a member of the UK Government’s Disability Living Allowance Advisory Board.
• I am currently a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management, and a Member of the Institute of Employability Professionals.
